Weighing up the balance: the Phu Kradueng cable car project

We are proud to announce that Dorsch Consult Asia has been entrusted with the system design of the iconic Phu Kradueng Cable Car Project, marking a major milestone for Thailand’s transport and tourism infrastructure.

Phu Kradueng (Thai: ภูกระดึง), is a 1,316 m (4,318 ft) high mountain in Loei Province, Thailand.

The project spans 4.5 km with an elevation gain of around 900 meters from the base to the summit, setting a new benchmark as a lighthouse project for future cable car developments across the country.

With a planned capacity of 800 passengers per day, an aerial tramway system would be probably the most suitable solution — robust against strong winds, offering high travel speeds up to 12 m/s, and providing a comfortable, scenic ride that reduces travel time to just a few minutes.

The system design includes two track ropes and one haul rope, with options for air-conditioned cabins and even open “cabrio” gondolas for those who wish to fully experience Thailand’s natural beauty and warm climate.

We are excited to contribute to a project that not only enhances tourism but also showcases innovative, sustainable engineering in harmony with nature.

For this project Dorsch Consult Asia works together with TESCO (Thailand) and OUTDOORENGINEERS (Switzerland)
