Construction of Cambodia’s third beltway route more than 80 percent completed
The construction of the third beltway is more than 80 percent completed and is scheduled to be completed by June 2023.
The beltway is an important route for the flow of goods into and out of the country and will reduce traffic congestion in Phnom Penh. The government considers the beltway as one of the main strategic roads to facilitate the decongestion in the capital.
The beltway will also facilitate the transportation of goods as the road will cross several major national roads.
Heang Sotheayut, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, said that so far, the construction of the third beltway has reached 81.55 percent. The road has a total length of 52,983 kilometres and will connect NR 3, 2, 4, 5, and 6 to NR 1 in Phnom Penh and Kandal.
