Construction of bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai to finish earlier than planned
The Nhon Trach Bridge project, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with neighboring Dong Nai Province, is now 80 percent complete and is expected to be finished by April 30 next year, four months ahead of schedule.
This bridge, the largest on Beltway No. 3, is part of the Tan Van – Nhon Trach section.
Le Dinh Hoang Chuong, deputy director of the Tan Van – Nhon Trach project management board, stated that contractors have been urged to speed up their work to prepare for potential unfavorable weather conditions.
According to Lee Moo Sung from South Korea’s Dongbu Corporation, one of the project’s contractors, the biggest challenge has been a sand shortage.
To overcome this, the contractor has sourced sand from Cambodia, despite it being 50 percent more expensive than domestic sand.
To offset these increased costs, the contractor has worked to shorten the project timeline, Lee added.
The bridge alone, whose contractor is South Korea’s Kumho E&C, was designed to be 2.6 kilometers long.
Work on the bridge, which costs VND1.6 trillion (US$63.9 million), began on September 24, 2022.
Meanwhile, two approach roads to the bridge totaling 5.6 kilometers in length are being constructed by Dongbu Corporation and VNCN Engineering Construction and Investment JSC.
The construction of the approach roads, with a price tag of nearly VND 1.1 trillion ($43.9 million), commenced on May 29, 2023.
