China’s SN Power Secures USD208 Million Contract to Run under construction Cambodian LNG Power Plant in Koh Kong province
Shenzhen Nanshan Power has won an operation and maintenance contract worth USD208 million for a liquefied natural gas-fired power plant under construction in Cambodia.
SN Power Gas Turbine Engineering and Technology received a letter of award from Cambodian investment and development conglomerate The Royal Group’s subsidiary Botum Sakor Energy informing it that it had won the O&M service contract for the Southeast Asian country’s first LNG power plant, SN Power announced yesterday.
SN Power Gas Turbine will provide O&M services for the plant’s gas turbines during the post-completion commissioning phase this and next years and the two subsequent major overhaul cycles between 2028 and 2042.
This project will significantly expand the scale of SN Power Gas Turbine’s gas turbine O&M service business, enhance its full-lifecycle service capabilities for gas turbines, accumulate key technologies and operational experience, and facilitate its continuous overseas expansion, SN Power said.
With a total investment of about USD1.3 billion, the LNG-fired power plant is located in Cambodia’s Koh Kong province. It is equipped with two sets of 450-megawatt gas turbines. The first one is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in April 2027, while the second one is expected to be commissioned by the end of that year.
The plant kicked off construction last July. Upon completion, its annual power generation will account for around one-fourth of Cambodia’s total power output, substantially improving the stability of the country’s power supply and contributing to advancing the low-carbon transformation of the local energy structure.
China Machinery Engineering Corporation is the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the project, with a number of Chinese enterprises participating in civil construction and equipment supply.
Shares of SN Power [SHE: 000037] closed 1.8 percent up at CNY8.58 (USD1.22) today, after gaining as much as 3.7 percent in morning trading. The Shenzhen Component Index climbed 1.4 percent.
