Capella to open new riverside resort in Bangkok
Plans have been revealed by Capella Hotel Group to open a riverside resort in Thailand’s capital.
Capella is working with real estate developer Country Group Development on the project that will see Capella Bangkok opening in the final three months of 2018.
The urban property, which will be located on the Chao Phraya river waterfront promenade, will feature 101 suites and villas with views across the river.
The Capella hotel will be part of the same riverside development that also includes the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, which is scheduled to open next year. Four Seasons will also be operating private residences on the site.
Capella Bangkok will feature a restaurant from Michelin-starred Argentinian chef Mauro Colagreco who will be creating dishes based on his “personal interpretation of Thai culture”.
The hotel will also include a library, dessert bar, riverside all-day restaurant, Auriga Spa and a ballroom overlooking the river.
Nicholas Clayton, chief executive of Capella Hotel Group, said: “Capella Bangkok adds a new dimension to our growing portfolio of iconic hotels in key Asian destinations.
“This commitment to local culture is evident at all Capella hotels, which include Singapore, Shanghai, Dusseldorf and Saint Lucia as well as properties under development in Ubud [Bali], Maldives and Sydney.”
Capella Hotel Group was sold by its founder Horst Schulze to Singapore’s Kwee family in October.
