Conergy wins 30-MWp solar EPC deal in Vietnam
Downstream solar power company Conergy said on Tuesday it has won a contract to build a 30-MWp solar park in Vietnam under the first phase of a 300-MW clean energy pipeline.
The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal calls for Conergy to take care of the overall planning, engineering, design and equipment supply for the so-called Ninh Thuan project. The company is collaborating with a Vietnamese partner for the installation of the plant, it said in the press release.
The project is owned by Vietnam-based BIM Group and AC Energy, a subsidiary of Philippine diversified group Ayala Corp (PSE:AC).
The photovoltaic (PV) park will be situated in Ninh Thuan province, in Vietnam’s south central coastal region, with construction slated to begin in April. The plant will be tied to the national power grid in December. Once up and running, the solar power facility is expected to generate 50,464 MWh of electricity annually, or enough to save about 21,629 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The scheme is seen to help Vietnam meet its growing power needs and address climate change issues, said BIM Group’s chairman Doan Quoc Viet. Demand for power and energy resources in the Asian country is forecast to more than double by 2025.
